I’ve been blessed with a group of guys who are very close to me, who have journeyed with me through my darkest days and have celebrated new life with me. Oddly, all of us seem to be in a lull of late, a season where we all feel like we are going through the motions of life. I’m not sure what it means but I’ve wondered why so many of us are in the same place right now.var gaJsHost = ((“https:” == document.location.protocol) ? “https://ssl.” : “http://www.”); document.write(unescape(“%3Cscript src='” + gaJsHost + “google-analytics.com/ga.js’ type=’text/javascript’%3E%3C/script%3E”)); try { var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker(“UA-12356560-1”); pageTracker._trackPageview(); } catch(err) {}
Lecrae sings a song about going to rehab, talking to God about how he just got better, got clean and started living the way he should when he slipped back into old habits and bad choices and needs to come to rehab again. The song really speaks to me right now.
I’m back in Proverbs to break the doldrums. Where better to go than to wisdom? I love reading these scriptures and thinking about how they apply to me but also am struck how people tend to apply them to our physical life more than our spiritual life. Oh, there is plenty of wisdom for daily life but as I read it I believe that wisdom has more to do with my heart than earthly tangibles.
This is a season (brief, I hope) where I need to guard my heart. I am praying that God will make his presence overwhelm me during this time.
Ministry is using our gifts & resources to serve others. There is real joy in serving something bigger than our own agenda. -Lecrae Moorevar gaJsHost = ((“https:” == document.location.protocol) ? “https://ssl.” : “http://www.”); document.write(unescape(“%3Cscript src='” + gaJsHost + “google-analytics.com/ga.js’ type=’text/javascript’%3E%3C/script%3E”)); try { var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker(“UA-12356560-1”); pageTracker._trackPageview(); } catch(err) {}
I had the opportunity to minister to some folks I don’t normally come in contact with on Sunday and I thank God for brothers who challenge me to step outside myself and my agenda.
Our church set a goal of $100,000 for a special contribution going to our missions work on October 9. It’s a crazy amount of money and I don’t know if we can reach it or not. I do know God wants to use us to do unbelievable things. Maybe $100k is a part of his plan, maybe not. Either way, whatever we raise will be for his glory, not ours. If we raise $25,000, it’s for him. If we raise $101,000, it’s for him. I hope no one will feel let down if we don’t hit the number or feel pumped about ourselves if we do reach the goal. It’s a man-made number and maybe God has different plans for us. Maybe his plans are going to be something bigger than we will ever dream of on our own. Who knows? I do know we will never know if we don’t put our trust in him and allow him to use us as he knows best.
So in times that are good, in times that are bad For any times that I’ve had it all I will be glad And I will boast in the cross, I boast in my pains I will boast in the sunshine, boast in his reign What’s my life if it’s not praising you Another dollar in my bank account of vain pursuit, I do That count my life as any value or precious at all Let me finish my race, let me answer my call –Lecrae, Boasting
You know you are in trouble when you are up with your mind spinning at an hour you expected to be long asleep while looking at the clock knowing you need to be up in less than 5 hours.

For now, I have something that will probably bore some readers, repulse others and make some just click on over to the next place you want to go. Hey, I don’t care ’cause it’s my blog, right?! 🙂

OK, I love a lot of different types of music. I’m a loud and fast guy most of the time but I enjoy classical from time to time, blues more often, jazz on occasion, Robert Earl Keen/Lyle Lovett/Jimmy Buffett/Willie any time, Christian rock and pop most of the time these days, some country and yes, hip-hop. I grew up playing basketball with some folks who listened to R&B/soul/rap and it’s long been a part of my music repertoire. Now, I’ve given the appreciation of it to my youngest child. Uh oh! Anyway, I’ve listened to several hip-hop artists popular today and like the music but don’t care for the message…until my boy turned me on to Lecrae. So, I’ve shared some of my favorite Third Day songs, some good Skillet music and now…crank up the subwoofers…here’s Lecrae, Flame and John Reilly singing Joyful Noise.
